Jenny Halse 

I am very proud to call myself a Nurse. Proud to be part of this awesome profession. My nursing career to-date has spanned over 25 years. It has been varied, challenging and rewarding in equal measures. Central to my career is my essence of nursing. My deeply held belief that my profession does and can have an impact on global health.  

During the first half of my career, I specialised in emergency and acute nursing within Children and Young People, resuscitation and hospital outreach services. It was during my role as an Emergency Department Sister that I began to understand myself better and my passion for developing others. I began to realise that through supporting other nurses to thrive, my impact as a nurse and as a nurse leader could be broader and greater. This has become my focus and expertise.  

I have held many senior roles within NHS Trusts, Universities and Health Education England, leading teams and initiatives that enhance the nursing workforce and the leadership potential of the nursing profession. All the work I do is influenced by my clinical grounding. I keep my passion for enhancing the nursing care a person receives central to everything I do.  

My clinical background, experience in nursing leadership, expertise in nursing education and workforce development, gives me a unique skill set. Through Develop To Thrive, I share my knowledge and expertise as widely as I can. Consulting with organisations, to support their nursing workforce; Developing leadership capacity across the profession; Coaching nurse leaders to release their potential and lead in a sustainable way.

Me Outside of Work 

My happy place is in nature, whether that be getting dirty in my garden, walking in the hills, on my yoga mat or skiing in the back country. These are the places I retreat to after work, to restore and reenergise. I have learnt how important personal well-being and self-care are. It never used to be but has become something that I prioritise.  

My partner, family and friends keep me grounded, I like nothing more than spending time with them nattering with something delicious to eat or drink, usually a cuppa or glass of wine!
